This one I found in Grandje's stash but it was clipped from the newspaper, rather than a hand written one.
Mix
1 ½ cup milk
1 ¾ cup yellow cornmeal
3 eggs
¾ tsp soda
¾ tsp salt
1/3 cup oil
1 can cream style corn
Pour ½ of this mixture in a greased oblong pan or large iron skillet. Sprinkle with:
1 lb browned & seasoned ground beef
1 onion, chopped
2 chopped hot peppers
½ lb grated cheese
Pour rest of batter over mixture; bake @ 450 for 45 to 60 minutes.
I would assume you could use a pkg of cornbread mix these days and it would work the same ??
